The Board of Public Works and Safety consists of 2 members appointed by the Mayor. Terms are consecutive with the term of the Mayor and the Mayor also serves as a member of the Board. This Board does hiring and firing and other personnel related matters. It considers contracts and makes recommendations to the Common Council.

The Board meets twice a month--1st and 3rd Tuesdays.
