The Common Council has passed two Ordinances that deal with housing. Ordinance #1992-16 relates to structural safety of vacant and/or abandoned properties and #1997-3 relates to the establishment and enforcement of minimum standards for rental housing. The Unsafe Buildings Hearing Board is the Hearing Authority for those Ordinances. This Board is made up of the members of the Board of Public Works and Safety Board plus one member appointed by the Local Landlord's Association.
